The car sat in dry Colorado since the early 70’s. The letter from Archivio Alfa Romeo confirms chassis, motor and delivery in April 1968 to the original owner in Stanford, CA. The car needed a total restoration, but had never been disassembled mechanically and had never had any major body work. The interior and dash were baked, but the body was an honest no-hit car. The factory nose bump was still there.
The car was entirely disassembled and dry soda blasted. All floor pans were removed, not cut out but pried out at all factory seams. New and expensive stamped pans from Europe were installed in a near perfect manner. All other panels are original, and every factory seam and spot weld is perfect including rockers. The single rust spot this car had was a golf ball-sized spot on the passenger side rocker about mid-way that was cut out and metal was welded in. There was no other rust on this car at all. The car was originally the graphite grey code. The brightwork is all stainless on this car, and it has been straightened and polished to a very high quality. The body comes together beautifully with the Carello covers, and because this was the last year this US-bound car had the factory stud holes for this setup, these installed perfectly.
